Arsenal lead Group H with seven points from three games, and victory against their Dutch opponents on Wednesday will see them take a giant step towards the knockout stages. The Gunners have been in great touch recently, and crushed Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. It saw Arsene Wenger reach the 1000 point figure in Premier League games as manager of the Gunners.

Robin Van Persie scored a brace in that 3-0 win, with Cesc Fabregas also contributing. Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner picked up a groin injury against Spurs, and has been ruled out for four weeks, meaning that he will miss this game against AZ.

AZ picked up their only their second win in their last seven league games when they beat lowly Groningen 1-0 in the Eredivisie on Saturday. Jeremain Lens, a second half substitute for Graziano Pelle, netted the winner five minutes from time.

AZ held the Gunners to a 1-1 draw when the two sides met at the DSB Stadium a fortnight ago. Ronald Koeman’s men had David Mendes Da Silva to thank for his late equaliser that allowed AZ to pick up their first points in Group H. Moroccan striker Mounir El Hamdaoui sustained a thigh injury in the Dutch Cup game against Spakenburg, and will miss his side’s trip to London.
