Standard have picked up only one point from their first three fixtures. In their first game they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Arsenal. In their second game, they needed a late goal from Moussa Traore to rescue a point against Dutch champions AZ. On Match Day 3, they again took the lead in Athens, but ended up losing 2-1.
Standard were held to a 0-0 draw by Excelsior Mouscron in the Belgian Pro League on Friday night. They meet league leaders Club Brugge after the Olympiacos game. Olivier Dacourt is injured with a calf problem, and with skipper Steven Defour also out, Standard will be hoping that the likes of Alex Witsel and Milan Jovanovic will rise to the occasion against Olympiacos.
As stated before, Olympiacos got the better of Standard on Match Day 3. Igor De Camargo gave Standard the lead in the 37th minute, only for Konstantinos Mitroglou to equalise six minutes later. Ieroklis Stoltidis broke Standard hearts by scoring the winner in the third minute of second half injury time.
Olympiacos beat Atromitos in the Greek Super League on Saturday. Oscar Gonzalez scored the only goal of the game ten minutes from time. Standard and Olympiacos both do not have any suspension worries going into this game.
