Wolfsburg played bravely against Manchester United on Match Day 2, but Sir Alex Ferguson’s side proved to be strong for the Wolves. Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko headed Wolfsburg ahead from Makoto Hasebe’s cross, but United equalised three minutes later through Ryan Giggs. United midfielder Michael Carrick grabbed the winner on 76 minutes, curling the ball past Diego Benaglio after Giggs and Berbatov had combined to set him up.
Wolfsburg beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Alexander Madlung gave Wolfsburg the lead in the first minute of first half injury time. His header from Zvjezdan Misimovic’s corner hit the ground and bounced into the top corner of Logan Bailly’s net. Christian Gentner made it 2-0 in second half injury time before Gladbach pulled one back through Michael Bradley.
Besiktas have lost both their Champions League games so far. They were beaten 1-0 by Man United on the opening night, and were defeated 2-1 by CSKA Moscow on Match Day 2.
Besiktas beat Kasimpasa in their Turkcell Super Lig game on Saturday. First half goals from Nihat and Bobo put Besiktas 2-0 ahead at the break. Besiktas’ Fabian Ernst and Matteo Ferrari were sent off late in the game, and Kasimpasa reduced the margin of defeat through a penalty from Andr Moritz.
