Motherwell have five points from three games so far in the SPL. Well drew their last game 0-0 at Aberdeen. They finished a disappointing seventh in last year’s SPL and will be looking to improve on that this season. However they had a good run in Europe last season and beat Welsh and Albanian opposition. Manager Jim Gannon will be hoping to qualify for European football again this season.

The Motherwell squad has been boosted by the signing of two Premier League players on-loan. Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy has arrived until January with a view to a permanent deal. Well also completed the signing of Striker Lucas Jutkiewicz on a six-month loan deal.

Champions Rangers have had a superb start to their SPL campaign and will be looking to continue that with a victory over Motherwell. Gers defeated Hamilton 4-1 at Ibrox in their last SPL game. Defender Stuart Whittaker and Kris Boyd both scored braces as they ran out comfortable winners. Mark McLaughlin scored a consolation goal for Accies.

Rangers have an injury doubt over striker Kyle Lafferty after the Northern Ireland international picked up an injury on international duty. New signing from Paris St Germain midfielder Jerome Rothen could be set to make his debut.
