Sunderland and manager Steve Bruce have had a great start to the season so far and a lot of the thanks has to go to newcomer Darren Bent. Bent has led the way in two of the three games and then moved over and gave some room to Kenwyre Jones in the game against Blackburn. Bent has 3 goals on the year and Jones got 2 in the last game to show that Sunderland has enough firepower to compete with the best teams in the league. If they get a quick start against Stoke City then Stoke could be in some trouble.
Stoke City has been a picture of inconsistency so far this year and have to be disappointed in the fact that they could not finish off Birmingham City last weekend. In their 0-0 tie they did manage to get by with a point but the team has to feel they should have gotten three. They have now been shutout in two straight games and haven’t found the back of the net since their first game when Jordan and Ryan Shawcross scored.
