November began as badly as October had ended for Atalanta. The Orobici, who had their five game unbeaten run halted by Livorno at the end of October, crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Cagliari last Sunday.
Cagliari’s first two goals were scored by Nene, and both were assisted by Andrea Cossu. Alessandro Matri scored Cagliari’s third on the stroke of half time, converting a penalty that had been conceded by Federico Peluso. Atalanta are currently 16th in the table, and are only out of the relegation zone because of they have a better goal difference than Livorno and Bologna.
Juventus were stunned 3-2 by Napoli last weekend. The Bianconeri lead 2-0 at one stage thanks to goals from David Trezeguet, but Napoli produced an amazing comeback to win 3-2. Striker Amauri was sent off in the dying minutes of the Napoli game, and he will therefore miss the trip to Atalanta. Vincenzo Iaquinta is definitely out, while Sebastien Giovinco and Alessandro Del Piero are also doubtful for the game.
Juventus beat Maccabi Haifa 1-0 in Israel in their midweek Champions League game. Mauro Camoranesi scored the winner in the second minute of first half injury time. The result allowed Juve to take another step towards their aim of making it to the last sixteen of the competition.
