Chievo had their five match unbeaten streak halted by Bari last weekend. Goals from Sergio Almiron and Andrea Ranocchia put Bari 2-0 ahead after 65 minutes. Chievo did manage to pull one back through Erjon Bogdani, but Bari held firm in the closing minutes of the game to grab all three points. Chievo were however left ruing the decisions of referee Renzo Candussio, who chose to overlook their desperate pleas for a penalty on two separate occasions.
Chievo are 10th in the league with eleven points from eight games. The Flying Donkeys will be without the services of Colombian defender Mario Yepes, who is suspended for this game.
Milan stunned Real Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Goalkeeper Dida’s horrendous error allowed Raul to put Real in front at the half way stage. Andrea Pirlo’s stunning long range effort allowed Milan to equalise, and the visitors went ahead four minutes later when Alexandre Pato scored. Real equalised through substitute Royston Drenthe, but Pato had the final say as he grabbed the winner in the 88th minute.
