Many football fans will tune in to see this game and see if the crafty moves made this summer by Mark McGhee will have an impact. Aberdeen will definitely be hoping to crack the top three this year but have to be disappointed with their 1-8 shellacking at the hands of Sigma Olomouc in the Europa League. Another issue will be the loss of players like Tommy Wright, Bertrand Bossu and Zander Diamond to injury.

New manager Mowbray will definitely be doing his best to keep Celtic in Europe but has been unable to make any big moves. Celtic did bring in Josh Thompson but also cut ties with a number of other roster players. The players were seen as being surplus but many fans saw the move as a cost cutting decision and are worried about the prospects of live Celtic football this year. A big game against Aberdeen would help the team gather some confidence and prove that they still have what it takes to compete in the Scottish Premier League.

Aberdeen could beat Celtic twice in the same season for the first time since 1991 when they host the defending champions at Pittodrie this weekend. Watch all Celtic games live by signing up to watch soccer online at oleolefootball.com.

Aberdeen beat Celtic 4-2 at Pittodrie in January, and another win against the Bhoys will give Jimmy Calderwood’s Europe chasing men a huge morale boost. However Zander Diamond, the man who scored a brace in that 4-2 win, is out injured, and so are Lee Miller and Darren Mackie.

Jamie Smith and Derek Young are also injured, which leaves Calderwood woefully short of options upfront. Young striker Chris Maguire, a Scottish U-21 international, should start. Tommy Wright is the favourite to partner him, but reserve forward Michael Paton is also an option. The Dons are just one point behind Dundee United, who currently hold the second Europa League spot.

Celtic’s last league game was against Aberdeen at Celtic Park. Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Scott Brown scored for the Hoops as they won 2-0. If they manage to beat Aberdeen on Saturday, Gordon Strachan’s men could open a four point gap between them and second placed Rangers, who play on Sunday.

Scott Brown will miss this game as he is suspended. Celtic’s fixture list after the Aberdeen game sees them away to Rangers in another Old Firm derby. Celtic were superior to Aberdeen in every aspect of the game last time around, and unless Aberdeen raise their game, they will be easy pickings for the Bhoys.
