Bayern Munich have not started this season’s Bundesliga campaign at all well; in fact in their first three games they have not recorded a victory, with two draws and a defeat last week away to Mainz by 2-1 their return so far. This worrying turn of events was definitely not on the itinerary for this season, especially after losing out to Wolfsburg by two points in last terms campaign. Management, players but especially the legions of fans will be scratching their heads at the lack lustre start to the season.
The game against Mainz last week typified Bayern’s form of late. They found themselves two down at half time and it was only thanks to an own goal at the start of the second half that they had any chance at all of salvaging something from the game; a chance they didn’t ultimately take.

For their part, champions Wolfsburg suffered their first defeat of the season as well last weekend, perhaps surprisingly losing at home to Hamburg by 4-2. Although finding themselves behind to to quick Hamburg goals in the first seven minutes of the contest, Wolfsburg managed to fight back with two quick goals of their own at the start of the second half. The expected victory didn’t materialise though, and Hamburg showed their metal by scoring another two goals and snatching the points.
